As Real Madrid Athletic Club Executive Directort, Santiago is responsible for the development and execution of strategies of soccer and business development, including competitive and market analysis; identifying, quantifying, and capturing opportunities; quality assurance delivery and service development. He is also responsible for developing and supporting short and long term business plans; preparation of capital budgets, sales strategy and initiatives; the continued development and reposition of the coaching, sales and service force of the Club.
As Real Madrid Athletic Club Head Coach, Santiago is responsible for the development, oversight and execution of soccer strategies, including Real Madrid AC Soccer Programs: Developmental (U-7 to U10), Youth (U-11 and U-12), Junior (U-13 to U-15) and Senior (U-16 to Professional). He is also responsible for the continued development and reposition of the Real Madrid AC coaching staff. As a Real Madrid AC Professor, he is the coach for the Real Madrid AC 93 and Real Madrid AC 94 boys teams, both of which play in the Classic League.
Santiago played soccer for 35+ years and has coached youth soccer, competitive and recreational, for the last 15 years. His teams have won the Coca-Cola Classic League Division I in the Under 19 age group, as well as The Texas State Championship - Under 19 Boys Team. Some of Santiago's players have gone on to be part of the USA National Team under 20 and are currently playing professionally in Europe and with Major League Soccer (MLS). Santiago holds a United States Soccer Federation Coaching "B" License, FIFA License and COI License.
A native Colombian, born and raised in the city of Bogotá, Santiago is a high school graduate of the Colombian Navy Academy. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Andes University in Systems and Computing Engineering while playing professional soccer. After his retirement from professional soccer, he came to the USA to studied at MIT university in Massachusetts. He is fluent in five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French.
Professionally, he has enjoyed a successful career in the Information Technology field since 1980. He currently works for Oracle USA, a leading provider of Databases and applications software.
Santiago is a Frisco, Texas resident with his wife Liliana and three daughters; Anika 26, Natasha 11 and Tatiana 8 years old. His passions include soccer, tennis and cycling. During the last eight years, he has spent thousands of hours developing the vision and planning one of the top soccer teaching programs in the country.
